Vintage Gold Charm Bracelet

If you are into charm bracelets you are probably aware that the golden age of charms is in the 1940s up to the 1960s. After this period, these pieces of jewelry took a back seat to other types of jewels but they never completely died out. Today, charm bracelets are making a huge comeback. While this trend has been fuelled partly by new and innovative designs from an Italian company, part of it consists in the search for a vintage gold charm bracelet that dates back to the jewelry’s golden age.

The bracelets of this period are usually of 14k gold, three dimensional unlike today’s flat machine-stamped charms, highly detailed, and often mounted with gemstones or pearls. These are individually hand-made by jewelers and goldsmiths thus making them true works of art. Samples of such charms are a 14k heart charm that is decorated with garnet all around it, a lantern charm made of a green stone wrapped in 14k gold, or a graduation day charm featuring an owl with a graduation cap.

Vintage bracelets also come with different designs. The chains can be elongated. A more elaborate design is a bracelet whose individual links are decorated with crowns. Some are made with double links.

The combination of the chains and the charms that dangle from them resulted in dazzling designs that are still sought for their beauty 70 years after they were made.
